To workshops Curriculum
1. Semester
Your first semester starts with “Breathing technique and voice training”. You will learn how actors use their voice to convey emotions. In the “Body training 1” module, you will learn about various relaxation exercises and the basics of body language. Initial acting situations as well as group and individual improvisation exercises await you in the course “Fundamentals of Scenic Work 1”. The programme also includes “Theatre and film history”.
2. Semester
You will refine your acting skills in the module “Fundamentals of scenic work 2”. In the course “Speech production and situational speaking”, you will learn how to use your voice correctly as a soloist or in dialogue. You will learn the basics of theatre studies in “Performance and drama analysis”. In the filming workshop, you will finally be able to put your knowledge into practice and get to know all the processes on a professional film set.
3. Semester
In “Voice training and singing”, you will continue to train your most important tool – your voice. For example, you will focus on the transition between speaking and singing voice. Practical exercises, text analysis and improvisation in front of the camera are the content of the “Film Acting” module. You can put your previously acquired knowledge of vocal technique and body control to the test in the practical orientation project. Here you will have your first contact with an audience and receive valuable feedback.
4. Semester
The “Casting and Career” module prepares you for your career entry: What opportunities does the theatre, film and media industry offer you? In the “Body Training 2” module, you will learn how voice and body language become one. The “Acting Methods” course introduces you to forms of acting such as performance theatre, inclusive theatre and contemporary theatre. The focus project is characterised by scenic practice: together with your fellow students, you will realise an ensemble project.
5. Semester
In your penultimate semester, you will hone your communication skills. Not only will you learn the basics of rhetoric and presentation techniques, you will also hone your moderation and negotiation skills. The “Student Initiative” offers you the opportunity to set individual priorities. For example, you can work on internal university research projects or volunteer as a buddy for international students.
6. Semester
Almost there! In your final semester, you will focus on the topic of sustainability in the film industry: the “Sustainable Filmmaking” module will introduce you to topics such as the circular economy and green producing. You will also work on a final project and write your Bachelor’s thesis. In the “Business start-up” course, you will learn how to set up your own business as an actor, filmmaker or dubbing artist.
