Sabine Auf der Heyde

is a theatre director with an additional background in Political Science. At Cours Florent she teaches Intercultural Competences, Intercultural Communication, Theatre-, and Film History, Performance and Drama Analysis, Academic Writing, Scene Work Basics and does acting projects.

Sabine Auf der Heyde was born and raised in Hong Kong. After studies led her abroad, first to Southern German and then to Beijing, China, she completed a theatre degree in directing at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in New York City. She then directed productions in the independent theatre scene in Berlin and worked as an assistant director at the DT Berlin. She has been working as a freelance director since 2009, and her work has taken her to the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, the Staatsschauspiel Mainz, the Lucerne Theater, the Schauspiel Stuttgart and the Bühnen Bern. She has directed and lectured in the acting and theatre departments at the Zurich University of the Arts, the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, and the Free University Berlin. Additionally, she completed a degree in Political Science at the Free University Berlin from 2012 and 2019, focusing on Gender and Critical Theory as well as a Social Justice and Diversity Training at FH Potsdam from 2022 on.
